The Meehan Family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support and generosity at the Seventh Annual Damian Meehan Memorial 5K Cross Country Run/Walk in Monroe, New York on Saturday, September 6th, 2008. We had over 200 runners and walkers, live Irish music, food and drinks. Barry Brill of Fishkill, NY was the overall champion with a winning time of 17:36. Damian’s niece, Jennifer Boyle of Chester, NY took the female title in a time of 21:05.  Congratulations to all of our winners and race participants.

The Foundation raised $116,034 dollars in 2008, of which $28,000 was awarded in educational scholarships and over $145,000 has been awarded in educational scholarships to date. The Foundation has certainly lessened the financial burden on countless families and continues to make a difference. Our goal is to continue helping many more young students in the years to come. In 2008, we donated over $3,000 to charitable organizations and in excess of $18,000 has been donated to various charitable organizations to date. Whether it was a computer for an inspirational young boy, or through the lives of two young girls who could not have continued their education at Good Shepherd Grammar School. Powerful things are happening because of your commitment never to forget. Some of our charitable donations include: monies to rebuild homes for destitute families in the Dominican Republic, American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief, and the Detectives Endowment Association Widows’ and Children’s Fund. We were fortunate to cover the cost of print materials to help a young mother of three battling Leiomyosarcoma launch her Foundation of Hope. These are just some of the ways that your generosity has assisted us in helping others in Damian’s name.

We are very excited to announce that the Eighth Annual Damian Meehan Memorial 5K Cross Country Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10:00am in Monroe, NY. Pre-registration is available by mail or online and Registration on race day from 7:30-9:30am.
Fund proceeds will be utilized to present annual scholarships as well as to create an avenue of hope, caring and relief for a variety of noble causes. Donors will be advised annually of the fund's disbursement and sponsor names will be published in our Annual Brochure and Finish Line Banner. All donations are tax-deductible. We continue our hopes to establish 1,000 $25.00 donors annually, in addition to the 5K Cross Country Run/Walk and of course, we hope to create new sponsors.
